My first week was wonderful!!!
The flight from Chicago to Ft. Lauderdale went without a hitch, however, the flight from Ft. Luaderdale to Guatemala City was delayed about an hour and a half due to technical difficulties – we were moved to a different plane altogether. At O’Hare the Ticket Agent made me purchase a return ticket back to the US even though I told her I was going to travel to Belize prior to being in the country 90 days... :( I'll cancel the flight and go to Belize instead if I can get a refund on the flight.
David, the Director of El Faro, met me at the airport - what a wonderful guy! And I met his friend Tono. Tono works in the media department at a mission and takes photos of the college students that work there from the various colleges.
When I came into Antigua on Tuesday I bought a phone. By Thursday I figured out how to use it and then used up the 100 minutes... :) I know there must be a way to purchase ongoing minutes by the month but I haven't figured that out yet. I'll will ask me Madre mother (Elvira) at mi familia my family. Mi madre y padre are wonderful! Y tengo dos hermanos y un hermana. (!!!) I have two brothers and a sister (!!!)
Please pray that the food served does not contain ANY dairy products or beef/anything from a cow. Unfortunately, most people don’t understand the severity of the problem and I’m not sure if it may be a problem.
Eight hours at la escuela was too much for my brain to handle so I changed the hours to six hours per day. I really like the school and am surprised that I seem to be learning at a good pace. Or so "I" think... : )
God is SO good!
