Mi primera semana esta marvillosa!
My first week was wonderful!
The flight from Chicago to Ft. Lauderdale went without a hitch, however, the flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Guatemala City was delayed about an hour and a half due to technical difficulties - we were moved to a different plane altogether. At O'Hare the Ticket Agent made me purchase a return ticket back to the U.S. even though I told her I was going to travel to Belize prior to being in the country 90 days... :( I'll cancel the flight and go to Belize. Hopefully I can get a refund on the flight.
David, the Director of the mission, met me at the airport. What a wonderful guy. And I met his friend Tono. Tono works in the media department at a mission and takes photos of the college students that arrive for short-term missions from the various colleges.
When I came into Antigua on Tuesday I bought a phone. By Thursday I figured out how to use it and then immediately used up the 100 minutes. :) I hope there's a way to purchase ongoing minutes by the month but I haven't figured that out yet. I'll ask mi Madre (mother - Elvira) at mi familia (my family). Mi madre y padre are wonderful! I have two brothers and a sister who are actually two men and a woman boarding at the house/hostel where I'm staying.
Please pray that the food served does not contain ANY dairy products or beef/anything from a cow. Unfortunately, most people don't understand the severity of the problem and I'm not sure if it may be a problem.
Eight hours at the Spanish Academy was too much for my brain to handle so I changed the hours to six hours per day. I really like the school and am surprised that I seem to be learning at a good pace. Or so "I" think... :)
God is SO good!

continued hunger, thirst, and obedience to passionately step forward in faith,
for the removal of any distraction(s)
safety in my heart, mind, body, soul, and spirit
